A former four-year starter on the defensive line at Hampton University, Marcus Dixon started his official collegiate coaching career with the Pirates in 2017, guiding the defensive linemen. He added the role of Director of Player Development prior to the start of the 2018 campaign. Now in his third season on the staff in 2019, Dixon will lead the defensive ends and serve as the recruiting coordinator.
Dixon played from 2004-07 and was a team captain his last three years. During his career he averaged almost 40 tackles per year along with 10 tackles for loss and four sacks per season.
After leaving Hampton he played for four NFL teams (Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs and Tennessee Titans) and was a member of the 2009 NFC East Champion Dallas Cowboys.
Dixon coached on the defensive line and tight ends last season at Darlington High School in Georgia where he helped coach three defensive lineman and one tight end to All Sub-Region 6A team recognition.  He was also a volunteer defensive line coach at Shorter University in 2012.
He earned his Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education from Hampton in 2008 and earned a second Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Public Administration from Walden University in February 2017.
