Kristal McGreggor

Kristal McGreggor is entering her second season as an assistant coach with Hampton University track & field, returning to her alma mater to work with Director of Track & Field Maurice Pierce. She works primarily with the school’s throwers. She is also the program’s business manager and recruiting coordinator.

McGreggor’s focus in recruiting is international student-athletes.

Under McGreggor’s teaching in 2012-13, the Pirates shined in the throwing events. Sulaiman Fareed was a Second Team All-MEAC honoree in the outdoor shot put – as well as the indoor shot put, while Javan Gray was named Third Team All-MEAC in the indoor shot put.

McGreggor was a Second Team All-MEAC performer in the indoor weight throw in 2011, which is when she set the new school record in that event with a mark of 17.50 meters. McGreggor, a 2010 graduate of Hampton, currently holds two school records: the indoor weight throw and the outdoor hammer throw (44.26 meters).

She has also served as a volunteer coach at Bronx Community College, coaching the throwers and monitoring strength and conditioning workouts for those student-athletes. She has also served as a volunteer coach with the Bronx Youth Soccer Club, coaching the Under-9 team.

During her first season, the team went 3-2-1.

A native of Kingston, Jamaica., McGreggor transferred to Hampton after two seasons at Bronx Community College, where she was a Second Team All-American as a freshman. As a sophomore, she earned First Team All-America honors, while also being named MVP of the 2008 NJCAA National Championships.

She was a Bronx CC MVP and Athlete of the Year in 2008, and she set CUNY records in the hammer throw and discus.

In her spare time, McGreggor cooks, watches TV, and plays FIFA.
