Lee A. Davis is in his first season as the head bowling coach at Hampton University.
Davis also currently serves as aquatic technician for the City of Hampton, where he is responsible for water chemistry maintenance – as well as safety and repairs. Prior to that appointment, Davis worked for Kellogg Brown & Root, MWR, in Djibouti, Africa, where he performed many of the same functions while also supervising life guards, swim and aquatic instructors.
Prior to that, Davis worked for Dyncorp International in Afghanistan, supervising MWR operations for gyms, recreation centers, and internet cafes.
From 2003-12, Davis worked for Kellogg Brown & Root in Iraq, and before that, he was the aquatics coordinator at Lifestyle Center in Chesapeake, Va. – where, on top of his water chemistry maintenance and aquatics duties, he taught martial arts, CPR, AED, life guard certification, and water safety.
From 1998-99, Davis was a team coordinator for Sentara Hampton Health & Fitness Center, supervising life guards and aquatic instructors – while also teaching classes and maintaining water safety.
From 1994-98, Davis worked at the bowling alley Sparetimes in Hampton, Va.
In 1989, Davis was hired by the City of Hampton to serve as Recreational Professional for Aquatics, and in 1993, he was named Recreation Professional, developing leisure education classes citywide, coordinating youth bowling programs, and conducting Tae Kwon Do camps.
Davis is a graduate of Hampton University, with a degree in physical education, and he worked on continuing studies at Christopher Newport.
Davis lives in Hampton, Va.
He is a licensed water safety instructor and a black belt in Tae Kwon Do. In addition, Davis is a certified Red Cross CPR and First Aid instructor and instructor trainer, as well as life guard trainer and trainer instructor. He is also a licensed National Recreation and Parks Aquatic Facility Operator.
