Hampton then went on to add three more runs in the seventh behind a leadoff home run by Liggins and back-to-back blasts from Wolfe and Gonzales. However, the Lady Pirates could not draw any closer.
Lisa White (1-1) pitched six and a third innings, striking out six to earn the win for UNCW, while Jeffries (2-1) suffered her first loss of the season for Hampton. The freshman was touched up for five hits and five runs in three innings.
