DES MOINES, Iowa – Hampton University senior Francena McCorory will compete in the 2010 USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships Wednesday through Sunday, held at Drake Stadium on the campus of Drake University.
McCorory (Hampton, Va.) will compete in the 400-meter dash, the event in which she holds three NCAA championships. She won her first outdoor NCAA title on June 11, running a 50.69. She earned All-American honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, and McCorory is also a finalist for the Bowerman.
McCorory's 50.69 gives her the third seed heading into USA Nationals, according to the declared sheets on the meet's website. Sanya Richards-Ross, representing Nike, holds the top seed with a 48.83, while Monica Hargrove, representing Under Armour, is the second seed with a 50.39.
The first round of the women's 400-meter dash will be on Thursday at 6:10 p.m. CST, with the semifinals taking place on Friday at 6:45 p.m. CST.
The final will be on Saturday at 2:36 p.m. CST.
ESPN and NBC will split television coverage of the USA Nationals. ESPN will televise the event on Friday from 8-10 p.m., as well as Saturday from 1-2:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1-2:30 p.m. NBC will offer coverage on Saturday from 3-4 p.m. and on Sunday from 3-4 p.m.
