FAIRFAX, Va. – Hampton University senior
Reggie Dixon and sophomore
Je'Von Hutchison each won an event title in the Father Diamond Invitational on Saturday, hosted by George Mason University at the George Mason Field House.
Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.) took the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.83, while
Hutchison (Boynton, Fla.) won the 500-meter dash after running a 1:04.46.
The Pirates' 4x400-meter relay 'A' squad – made up of freshmen
Brien Berry (Durham, N.C.),
Mohamed Labor-Koroma (Chantilly, Va.),
Edose Ibadin (Glendale, Md.) and
Chidi Okezie (Philadelphia, Pa.) – ran a 3:18.61 to finish second.
Freshman
Javan Gray (Springfield, Ore.) threw the shot put 14.47 meters to finish third, while Ibadin ran a 1:57.34 in the 800-meter run to finish fifth.
Junior
Xavier Fraction (Sewell, N.J.) ran a 1:57.58 to finish sixth.
Senior
Devan Clark (Lorton, Va.) came in sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 14.17 meters. Labor-Koroma came in seventh in the 500-meter run with a time of 1:06.50.
Dixon also tied for eighth in the long jump, matching freshman
Corrin Harris (Dumpass, Va.) with a mark of 6.52 meters.
The Pirates will return to action on Friday, when they head to New York, N.Y. to compete in the New York City Gotham cup. The Lady Pirates will join them, taking part in their first competitive meet of the 2011-12 indoor season.
