DENMARK NAMED MEAC FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

NORFOLK, Va. – Hampton University sophomore Teiara Denmark was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference office announced on Wednesday.

Denmark (Virginia Beach, Va.) won both the long jump and the triple jump at the Tribe Invitational this past weekend in Williamsburg, Va. She jumped an outdoor season-best 5.63 meters to take the long jump, while she took the triple jump with a mark of 12.00 meters.

The MEAC has split its weekly track & field awards for the outdoor season, awarding a track athlete and a field athlete for the men and the women.

North Carolina A&T's Jared Baldwin was named MEAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week, while Florida A&M's Jeremy Tillman and North Carolina A&T's Jenea McCammon were named Men's and Women's Track Athlete of the Week, respectively.

The Lady Pirates will return to action on Friday and Saturday, when they head to Raleigh, N.C. for the Raleigh Relays.
