PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Hampton University men's and women's track & field teams competed in the 117th annual Penn Relays this past Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the historic Franklin Field.
Sophomore
Teiara Denmark (Virginia Beach, Va.) won the Eastern long jump on the women's side, jumping a season-best 5.95 meters.
Senior
Claudia Calder (Kingston, Jamaica) came in third in the college high jump, thanks to a season-best height of 1.75 meters.
The Lady Pirates also took bronze in both the ECAC 4x100-meter relay final (46.36) and the college 4x800-meter run final (8:58.35). The foursome of freshman
Le'Quisha Parker (Silver Springs, Md.), sophomore
Breana Norman (Virginia Beach, Va.), sophomore
Emmy Fraenk (Hampton, Va.) and freshman
Cassandra Jones (Norfolk, Va.) were in the ECAC 4x100 final after running a 46.13 in the heats.
Those four also came in sixth in the 4x200-meter relay Championship of America final, turning in a combined time of 1:36.36. They ran a season-best 1:36.12 in the heats, coming in seventh overall.
The 4x800 squad was comprised of sophomore
Cydney Robinson (Portsmouth, Va.), sophomore
Alaine Tate (Queens, N.Y.), sophomore
Malekah Holland (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and senior
Benita Taylor (Philadelphia, Pa.).
The Pirates finished fifth in the 4x200-meter relay Championship of America men's final, as senior
Reggie Dixon (Plainfield, N.J.), freshman
Brien Berry (Durham, N.C.), freshman
Chidi Okezie (Philadelphia, Pa.) and sophomore
Je'Von Hutchison (Boynton, Fla.) clocked in at 1:24.22.
That foursome also finished eighth in the 4x100-meter relay Championship of America final with a 40.54.

Mohamed Labor-Koroma (Chantilly, Va.) ran a combined 3:14.26 to finish seventh in the IC4A final of the 4x400-meter relay.
The Pirates and Lady Pirates will return to action this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, when they head to Greensboro, N.C. for the 2012 MEAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which will be held at North Carolina A&T's Irwin Belk Track.
