HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University track & field program has released its 2013-14 indoor and outdoor schedules, slates that include a home meet during the indoor season – the first for the program since 2009.
The indoor season will start on Dec. 7, when the Pirates and Lady Pirates compete in the Christopher Newport Holiday Open in Newport News, Va. It will be the only meet for Hampton before the New Year.
On Jan. 4, both teams will be at the Boo Williams SportsPlex for the Inter-Squad Meet.
The Pirates will then head to Annapolis, Md. on Jan. 11 for the Navy Quad Meet, while the Lady Pirates will be in Fairfax, Va. that day to compete in the Father Diamond Invitational.
The Hampton University Invitational will be held on Jan. 18 at the Boo Williams SportsPlex.
Both squads will return to Newport News, Va. on Jan. 24-25 for the CNU Captain's Invitational, before heading to State College, Pa. on Jan. 31-Feb. 1 for the Penn State National. The final indoor meet before the conference championships will be the Armory Invitational on Feb. 7-8 in New York, N.Y.
The 2014 MEAC Indoor Championships will be held Feb. 13-15 in Landover, Md. The Lady Pirates are once again the defending champions, while the Pirates finished second in last year's meet.
The Last Chance Meet will be held on March 2 in Boston, Mass., leading up to the NCAA Indoor Championships – which will be held at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M. on March 13-15.
The Pirates and Lady Pirates will open the outdoor campaign on March 20-22 at the Shamrock Invitational hosted by Coastal Carolina, while select athletes will also compete in the Virginia Cup in Charlottesville, Va. on March 22.
The Raleigh Relays will be held March 28-29 in Raleigh, N.C., before the teams split between the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. and the Colonial Relays in Williamsburg, Va. on April 4-5. The Norfolk State Relays will be held on April 12 at Dick Price Stadium, and the Morgan State Legacy Meet will be held April 19.
Once again, the Pirates and Lady Pirates will close out the outdoor regular season at the historic Penn Relays, which will be held April 24-26 in Philadelphia, Pa.
The 2014 MEAC Outdoor Championships will once again be held in Greensboro, N.C., on the campus of North Carolina A&T, on May 1-3. The Pirates and Lady Pirates and both the defending MEAC outdoor champions.
Both teams will then head to Princeton, N.J. on May 13-15 for the IC4A and ECAC Outdoor Championships, before those who qualify will head to Jacksonville, Fla. on May 29-31 for the NCAA East Preliminary.
The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be June 11-14 in Eugene, Ore.
