HAMPTON, Va. – Redshirt junior guard/forward Dwight Meikle had a career day on Sunday against Northern Arizona, his first double-double of the season helping the Pirates leave the HU Convocation Center with a 75-66 win.

The Pirates (6-6) have won five of their last six games.

Meikle (Baltimore, Md.) scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds to lead the Pirates, shooting 10-for-16 from the floor and making three of his four free throws. Junior guard Brian Darden (Hampton, Va.) and guard Quinton Chievous (Chicago, Ill.) each added 10 points.

Junior guard Deron Powers (Williamsburg, Va.) added seven points, seven rebounds, and three assists.

The Pirates shot 43.6 percent (24-for-55) from the floor and hit four of their 15 3-pointers (26.7 percent). Hampton was also 23-for-38 (60.5 percent) from the free throw line, on top of turning 22 NAU turnovers into 23 points.

Hampton also held a 46-34 edge in bench points and 34-26 in points in the paint.
