LADY PIRATES THIRD, PIRATES TIED FOR NINTH IN IC4A/ECAC OUTDOORS

PRINCETON, N.J. –
The Hampton University women's track & field team finished third, and the men's track & field team came in tied for ninth, in the ECAC and IC4A Outdoor Championships this past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday hosted by Princeton University.
 
The Lady Pirates wound up with 40 points in the ECAC standings, coming in six points behind second-place Harvard. Connecticut won the ECAC team title with 85 points.
 
Senior Breana Norman (Virginia Beach, Va.) won the 100-meter hurdles after running a season-best 13.44 in the final, and she was on the 4x100-meter relay squad – along with senior Teiara Denmark (Virginia Beach, Va.), sophomore Tanisha Greene (Virginia Beach, Va.), and junior Le'Quisha Parker (Silver Spring, Md.) – that came in second with a 45.38.
 
Denmark also came in second in the long jump with a mark of 6.08 meters (19 feet, 11.5 inches).
 
Parker also anchored the 4x400-meter relay team, where she, along with senior Malekah Holland (Brooklyn, N.Y.), senior Emmy Fraenk (Hampton, Va.), and sophomore Ce'aira Brown (Philadelphia, Pa.), finished second with a 3:36.45.
 
Senior Cydney Robinson (Portsmouth, Va.) ran a 2:08.04 to come in third in the 800-meter run -- after turning in a personal best with a 2:06.95 in the preliminary heats.

Brown and Robinson are 42nd and 43rd, respectively, the NCAA regional rankings; the top 48 in each event will compete in the NCAA preliminaries.
 
The Pirates tallied 27 points to tie with Maryland Baltimore County for ninth in the IC4A standings. Pitt won the IC4A team title with 51 points.
 
Senior Stefano Nardini (Milan, Italy) won the javelin throw after tossing the implement 70.39 meters (230 feet, 11 inches), and senior Je'Von Hutchison (Boynton, Fla.) ran a season-best 46.51 to take the 800-meter run title.
 
Hutchison also anchored the Pirates' 4x400-meter relay team that finished third. Freshman Rayon Black (Kingston, Jamaica), junior Chidi Okezie (Philadelphia, Pa.), junior Edose Ibadin (Glendale, Md.), and Hutchison ran a 3:08.73.

Okezie ran a 46.75 in the preliminary heats of the 400-meter dash.
