PHOENIX, Md. – The Hampton University women's golf team opened the 2014-15 campaign on Sunday and Monday at the Towson Golf & Country Club, competing in the Tignanelli Towson Invitational.
The Lady Pirates came in 15th with a two-day score of 670 (336-334).
Freshman
Zora Moore had a fantastic start to her collegiate career, pacing the Lady Pirates in finishing tied for 26th with a two-day score of 157 (79-78). Her second-round 78 was the low round of the tournament for the Lady Pirates.
Junior
Cheryl Chua finished in a tie for 54th with a 165 (80-85), while sophomore
Britney Smith shot a 172 (88-84) to finish in a tie for 71st.
Senior
Mikea Granberry shot a 176 (89-87) to come in 75th, while senior
Crystal Smitherman had the team's best improvement of the weekend, following up a first-round 98 with a second-round 88 to fire 186 for the tournament.
Delaware and Towson tied atop the leaderboard with a 608.
