SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Hampton University women's golf team won the Savannah State Tiger Fall Invitational, which was held Monday at the Crosswinds Golf Club, recording their second team win in as many tournament.
The Lady Pirates shot 332 on Monday to defeat Savannah State in the team standings.
Inclement weather canceled Tuesday's action, meaning only Monday's first round counted for the women. On the men's side, two rounds from Monday counted and Tuesday's final round was canceled.
All five Lady Pirate golfers finished in the top 10 of the individual standings, with
Britney Smith again leading the way with her 8-over 80, finishing fifth. She has posted Hampton's best score in three of the four tournaments played so far this season.
Zora Moore was sixth after carding an 11-over 83, while
Treliah Samuels shot a 12-over 84 to tie for seventh.
JiHyun Park fired a 13-over 85 to come in ninth.
Milan James was 10th after carding a 15-over 87.
Yudika Rodriguez of Bethune-Cookman won the women's individual title with a 1-over 73.
On the men's side, the Pirates finished fifth in the team standings with a two-round score of 647 (317-330). Savannah State, with a 601 (310-291), won the team title.
T.J. O'Neal paced the Pirates again, coming in tied for 12th after carding a 5-over 149 (74-75). O'Neal, who has turned in the Pirates' best score in each of the season's first four tournaments, has shot in the 70s in each of his last three rounds.
Kenny Gaither was tied for 31st with a 20-over 164 (78-86), and his first-round 78 was his third round in the 70s so far this season.
Dawson Hobbs shot a 23-over 167 (82-85) to come in tied for 34th, as did
Brandon Reed with after going 83-84.
Arthur Davis finished 45th with a 45-over 189 (96-94).
Florida A&M's Kevin Parker won the men's individual title with a 4-under 140 (68-72).
