HAMPTON, Va. – Hampton University seniors
Chidi Okezie and
Margaret Wilkins were named HU Athletes of the Week on Monday for their respective performances this past weekend.
Okezie (Philadelphia, Pa.) helped the men's track & field team win the Morgan State Legacy Meet on Friday and Saturday, running on both the 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams – each of which finished second.
The 4x100 squad ran a 41.12, while the 4x400 team ran a season-best 3:09.59. Okezie also ran a season-best 21.59 in the 200-meter dash, coming in seventh.
Wilkins (Tustin, Calif.) extended her hitting streak to 14 games with hits in each of the three games against Maryland Eastern Shore this past weekend, in the process breaking the program record for career hits.
Through this past weekend, Wilkins has 232 career hits; the previous record holder, Maggie Wolfe (2004-07) had 231 career hits.
