PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. – The Hampton University women's golf team wrapped up the 2015-16 season with a fourth-place finish in the PGA Minority Collegiate this past Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Ryder and Wanamaker Courses.
The Lady Pirates finished with a three-day score of 993 (334-331-328).
Britney Smith was tied for seventh after shooting a 16-over 232 (79-80-73). Her third-round 73 was her best round of the season, as well as the Lady Pirates' best round of 2015-16. Smith closed out the season by shooting in the 70s in seven of her last nine rounds.
Zora Moore shot a 32-over 248 (83-83-82) to finish 17th, while
Treliah Samuels came in 18th after firing a 34-over 250 (83-83-84).
JiHyun Park and
Milan James each fired a 54-over 270 to finish tied for 20th; Park went 89-92-89 for the weekend, while James shot 93-85-92.
Bethune-Cookman won the team title with an 897 (295-302-300). Shamiso Hatchard from Bethune-Cookman won the individual medal with a 6-over 222 (73-74-75).
On the men's side,
Kenny Gaither competed in the men's individual invitational, coming in 11th after shooting a 29-over 245 (84-82-79). Gaither wrapped up the 2015-16 season with six rounds in the 70s.
