MADISON, NJ -- A 7-2 fourth quarter sunk Hampton's men's lacrosse team on Saturday as the Pirates fell 15-8 to New Jersey Institute of Technology at Ranger Stadium on the campus of Drew University.

Pierce Johnson was the leading scorer for the pirates with three goals, while Derian Williams-Sturdivant scored twice andÂ
Carter Boone,
Josh Square Jonathan Napier chipped in one goal for Hampton who fell to 3-8 on the year.

New Jersey Institute of Technology would score first, but Hampton responded with a score from
Josh Square with 10:46 left in the first quarter. NJIT would follow with a quick score and
Pierce Johnson added a goal with 2:14 tying the game at the end of the first quarter at 2-all.

Johnson would score with 8:30 remaining in the second quarter to even the match at 3-all. The Highlanders would answer with four goals of their own to lead 7-3 with 12:05 left in the third on a goal by Ryan Darrow. The Pirates would rally back as
Pierce Johnson and Derian Williams-Sturdivant would score back to back goals for the Pirates with 6:13 left in the third quarter as they trailed 7-5.
Carter Boone closed out the third quarter with a goal with 46 seconds left bringing the score to 8-6.

The hosts would start the fourth quarter with five straight goals pulling away 13-6 on a Vincent D'Agostino goal with 10:27 left. Napier and Williams-Sturdivant scored 27 seconds apart to bring Hampton to 13-8 but that closed Hampton's scoring.

The Pirates are back on the field Wednesday at 2pm hosting Potomac State at Armstrong Stadium.
