HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University tennis teams met former conference powerhouse S.C. State on Saturday and both lost 7-0 at home.
In the men's match, Davy van Geerke and
Luke Thompson won 6-4 at line one doubles, but the Bulldogs took the other two matches for the team point. During singles, van Geerke pushed Juan Ramirez at line one singles falling 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.
In the women's match, Hampton also took a doubles match at line one with
Kiah Turner and
Cherise Slocombe winning 6-2. Singles saw Turner drop a three-set match at line two to Ikram Rassif 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6).
The men will host UC Riverside on Thursday morning at 9:30, while the women will host Winthrop on Friday at noon.
