FARMVILLE, Va. – The Hampton women's tennis team scored a doubles point win for the first time this season in conference matches and earned a singles win as they fell 5-2 to Longwood on Wednesday.
The doubles pairing of
Kiah Turner and
Cherise Slocombe got Hampton the first win with a 6-1 victory at line one. After losing line three 6-3, the Hampton pairing of
Yulia Kapitanova and
Viktoria Ljungman won 6-2 at line two to give Hampton the team point.
In singles, the Lancers won at lines one, two, three, four and six. At line five,
Haley Mullins came back after dropping the first set to take the win in a third-set tiebreaker 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3).
The Lady Pirates will close out the regular season on Sunday hosting Norfolk State for Senior Day at 1 pm.
