SPARTANBURG, S.C. –
Cherise Slocombe and
Kiah Turner earned singles wins at lines two and three respectively as Hampton fell 5-2 at USC Upstate on Sunday.
Slocombe won her match over Neelia Acuna 6-2, 7-5, while Turner scored a 6-1, 6-1 win over Elin Hellberg for the Lady Pirates.
Viktoria Ljungman pushed Valeria Zarama into a third-set breaker but fell 7-5, 1-6, 1-0 (10-8).
In doubles, Turner and Slocombe won at line one 6-0, but the Lady Pirates dropped the other two doubles matches to lose the team point. Hampton returns home to face Campbell on Monday at 10 am.
