GREENVILLE, S.C. –
Michael Lawrence scored two goals and assisted on one as the Hampton Pirates fell 19-4 at Furman in a men's lacrosse matchup on a snowy Saturday.
The Paladins scored the first six goals of the game before Lawrence tallied his assist connecting with
Miles Fawcett for a goal at the 13:27 mark to trail 6-1. Furman scored the final three goals of the half to lead 9-1 at intermission.
That lead stretched to 18-1 after the third, before Lawrence put in his first goal with 8:58 left to trail 18-2.
Pierce Johnson took a feed from
Derian Williams-Sturdivant to give Hampton another tally with 6:42 left for an 18-3 deficit.
After giving up a goal 65 seconds later, Lawrence scored the final goal of the game at the 4:04 mark taking advantage of a man-up situation for the Pirates for the eventual 19-4 final.
Hampton won 16 of 27 faceoffs as
Ian Groom had nine ground balls to lead Hampton, while
Tyler Dey added three.
The Pirates will go back on the road on Tuesday facing first-time opponent Bellarmine at 3:55 pm.
