HAMPTON, VA – The Hampton Lady Pirates basketball team lost to the Liberty Flames Wednesday night by a score of 68-48.
The Lady Pirates stayed with the Flames through the first quarter and only trailed Liberty by two points at 17-15.
An eight-point run early in the second quarter started turning the tide of the game for the Flames and by the end of the quarter they led by 12 points.
The second half saw the lead grow to 28 at one point during the third quarter. The Flames carried the momentum the rest of the way and walked away with a 68-48 victory.
The Pirates were got 15 points from
Nas Nigatu and 12 points from
Madison Buford to lead the way.
The Lady Pirates will take on arch-rival Norfolk State in the first half of a double header Saturday in the Convocation Center. Hampton's women will play at 3:30 pm followed by the men at 5:30 pm.
