ASHEVILLE, N.C. – Hampton dropped a 69-53 decision to UNC Asheville Wednesday night in a Big South conference showdown.
 
Dajour Dickens records his third double-double of the season with 14 points (7-9 FG) and 12 rebounds. Russell Dean scores 14 points and Najee Garvin scores 11 points and grabs seven rebounds.
 
The Pirates struggled to find their rhythm early in the first half, as they found themselves in an early deficit. The Bulldogs would grow their lead to as many as 17 points in the first half, en route to leading 37-23 at halftime. In the second half, the Pirates managed to trim the deficit all the way down to five points with 12:39 remaining. Hampton opened the second half on a 17-8 scoring run. However, the Pirates were not able to capitalize on their momentum, as the Bulldogs would pull away by as many as 18 points and win the game.
 
Hampton returns home Saturday, February 12 to defend home court against the Radford Highlanders at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
