HAMPTON, VA- Pirate's men's lacrosse alum Michael Lawrence is headed to the 2023 Men's World Lacrosse Championship in San Diego with Team Jamaica.
Lawrence played three seasons at Hampton from 2018-20. After graduation, he began his master's degree at Carnegie Mellon University.
The Jamaican team Lawrence plays for is a member of the Pan-American Lacrosse Association. The team punched their ticket to the Championship Monday in Colombia at qualifiers defeating U.S. Virgin Islands, 5-4.
"Michael Lawrence is an awesome young man who is one of the most talented players in the short history of the Hampton University lacrosse program," said head coach
Chazz Woodson. "More importantly, he was a wonderful teammate and an stellar student-athlete."
