HAMPTON, Va. (December 20, 2023) … Hampton head football coach
Robert Prunty Jr. announced the addition of six players for the 2024 season.
"We have completed Phase I of our recruiting and have added two high school standouts and four transfers to our roster for 2024," Prunty said. "We addressed our need for offensive linemen and added a local player who played on three state-championship teams at Hampton's Phoebus High. This concludes Phase I of our recruiting efforts this year. Phase II will be completed in February and Phase III will be in the spring of 2024 as we continue the recruiting process."
Amaad Foston
Running Back, 6-0, 212, Redshirt Sophomore
Milledgeville, Ga. (John Milledge Academy, University of Virginia)
Foston led the state of Georgia with 2,772 rushing yards with 46 touchdowns at John Milledge Academy in 2019. He was named all-state and led the Trojans to a 13-0 record and the AAA crown. He rushed for 423 yards on 42 carries in the title game. He was a three-star recruit by ESPN.com, Rivals.com, and 247sports.com. He saw limited action at Virginia due to injury. He is an explosive back who combines great speed and power. He has excellent field vision and exceptional balance to stay on his feet. He brings added physicality to Hampton's backfield.
Zach Perkins
Offensive Lineman, 6-3, 215, Redshirt Sophomore
Tampa, Fla. (Berkeley Prep, University of Maryland, University of South Florida)
Perkins saw action in 11 games at South Florida as a member of the offensive line. He is a versatile athlete who can play all five upfront positions. He has a physical presence and the athletic ability to move people off the ball.
Omari Allen
Offensive Lineman, 6-4, 300, Redshirt Freshman
Henderson, N.C. (Vance County High, East Carolina University)
Allen was redshirted at East Carolina and did not play in 2023. He is a strong interior lineman. Allen has great hand placement and the strength to move people and open holes. His athleticism allows him to excel to pull and play in space. At Vance County High, Allen was team captain and helped lead the Vipers to a 7-3 record and a NCHSAA playoff appearance in 2021 where he played for coach Hunter Jenks. He was listed as the 41st best player in North Carolina as a senior by the Fayetteville Observer.
Emery D'Urso
Offensive Lineman, 6-4, 290, H.S. Senior
Hampton, Va. (Phoebus High)
D'Urso was the anchor of Phoebus High's offensive line in 2023. He helped lead the Phantoms to three state titles including a win over Salem for the 2023 crown. D'Urso helped provide airtight protection to his quarterback. He moves well in space and has excellent leg drive while finishing blocks. He plays with his hands and moves well on his feet. He was listed as one of the top 50 players in Virginia by the Virginian-Pilot.
Randy Jordan Jr.
Defensive Back, 5-10, 190, Graduate
Tulare, Calif. (Tulare Union High, Fresno State University, University of Rhode Island)
Jordan played in the CAA at Rhode Island last season. Had 13 tackles in 2023 and broke up four passes for the Rams. An explosive player, Jordan also returned kickoffs and had a 95-yard return for a score in 2023. He can play corner, safety and nickel. He is physically aggressive and can blitz off the edge and is great in coverage.
Zekai Wimberly
Linebacker, 6-2, 230, H.S. Senior
West Orange, N.J. (West Orange High)
Originally committed to Syracuse but decommitted after a change in the Orange coaching staff. He also considered scholarship offers from Mississippi and Temple He is rated a three-star prospect by all the major recruiting services. He is ranked the 88th best linebacker in the class by ESPN and the 25th best player in New Jersey by On3. He is a big, strong and powerful athlete who has played both linebacker and wide receiver.
