Hampton (15-27, 4-15) split a doubleheader with CAA foe North Carolina A&T State (16-30, 9-11) on April 29. The Lady Pirates took the first game, 5-4, before falling in the second by a 9-3 score.
Facing a 4-0 deficit in the final inning, the Lady Pirates rallied for five runs to register the win. Nicol Ley belted a three-run triple to right centerfield clearing the bases for the game-winning hit. She had two hits in the game. Janae Lyles went 2-3 and scored a run while Jordan Scott (3-6) pitched two perfect innings in relief to pick up the win.
A&T turned the tables in the second game by scoring four runs in the first inning and four more in the final frame en route to a 9-3 victory over the Lady Pirates. Scott, the winner in the first game of the doubleheader, absorbed the loss allowing four runs – two earned – in the opening frame. Taylor Ivey was 2-3 and scored two runs while Kayla Domon was 2-4 with an RBI. Carmynn Bonner belted a two-run double for Hampton.
