HENDERSON FEATURED SPEAKER AT PENINSULA SPORTS CLUB HEADLINERS NIGHT

Newport News, Va. … Hampton director of athletics Anthony Henderson Sr. was the featured speaker at the Peninsula Sports Club's 73^rd annual Headliners Night on June 26 at the Holiday Inn Newport News. Curt Newsome, head football coach at Emory & Henry, was named the group's Person of the Year. Will Driscoll, executive director of the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, served as master of ceremonies.

Henderson, who was named director of athletics on February 8, 2023, was a defensive back on Hampton's football team. He earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from Hampton in 2000. He received a master's degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Sport Leadership where he graduated cum laude.

He returned to his alma mater as director of athletics after having worked as deputy director of athletics at Yale. He also served as associate athletics director and executive director of athletics advancement at William & Mary, associate director of athletics at Akron, assistant director of development at Old Dominion, and as a senior account executive The Event Authority L.L.C. in Charlotte, the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, Disney Sports Attractions and the Richmond Braves baseball club.
