HAMPTON, VA. (Sept. 20, 2023) … For the past two years, NCAA student-athletes across the country have been allowed the opportunity to monetize their name, image, and likeness (NIL). During this time, Hampton Athletics has been investing in the education of its student-athletes on ways they can maximize their personal brands in order to take advantage of the changing landscape in college athletics.
Now, through its existing partnership with INFLCR, Hampton Athletics is taking the next step in announcing the Hampton Pirates Exchange, which will provide a platform for local, regional, and national businesses to engage with Hampton student-athletes for name, image and likeness opportunities. This serves as an extension of the collaboration between Hampton, INFLCR, and Teamworks that will allow Hampton to leverage INFLCR's technology to educate and track its student-athletes NIL activities.
"This is an exciting opportunity and a valuable resource for our student-athletes to take advantage of NIL opportunities," said Director of Athletics Anthony D. Henderson, Sr. "Our relationship with INFLCR will help connect our student-athletes with prospective companies to explore potential avenues to promote their personal brands."
Using the Hampton Pirates Exchange, members of the business community will now be able to partner directly with student-athletes on brand-focused activities, provided they are permissible under Commonwealth of Virginia law and follow the Hampton University NIL institutional policy.
"The Hampton Pirates Exchange will provide another opportunity for the many Hampton alums who lead or own businesses to be engaged with our athletics department and support our student-athletes," said Deputy Director of Athletics for External Affairs/Chief Revenue Officer Vaughan Moss.
