Hampton Volleyball Falls In Final Match of the 2024 Season to William & Mary

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (Nov. 17, 2024) … The Hampton University Volleyball team concluded the 2024 Season with a 3-0 loss to William & Mary. The Lady Pirates trailed the Tribe by as many as 12 points in the first set. However, a 9-3 run by Coach Ronaldo Pacheco's side brought the frame back to within striking distance. The Tribe took the final two points to claim the stanza. After William & Mary won the first set the Tribe took the next two.

Hampton scored the match's first point taking advantage of an error made by the Tirbe. After giving up the early score, William & Mary took the next four points. While the Lady Pirates got kills from Shachia Lamb, Abena Asomani-Martin, and Cortni Adams, the Tribe jumped out to a 17-7 lead. Hampton would go on a run of their own shrinking William & Mary's advantage. With Tribe leading 23-17, the final two points of the match proved to be enough to take the frame. 

William & Mary got off to a quick start claiming the first three points. Hampton battled to keep the stanza within striking distance. Madison Clark and Brooklyn Patterson helped bring the set back to its closest point since the 4-3 mark. The Tribe answered the Lady Pirates' run with two separate runs of three consecutive points. While a kill by Adams continued the stanza, William Mary took the second frame 25-18.

While Hampton scored the first point on the third set, the Tribe got off to a quick start. William & Mary began the frame on a dominant stretch producing a 13-1 run. Hampton throughout the the stanza traded blows with the Tribe. William & Mary held on to its 12-point lead. With the Tribe taking the final five points, William & Mary won the match.
