HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 14, 2024) – The Lady Pirates defeated the Longwood Lancers 5-2 in this afternoons matchup. Hampton won five out of the six singles matches which earned them the win in their first home event since 2021-22.

The Lady Pirates lost all three doubles matches, as Mio Kozaki and Sofia Sokolova lost to Phoebe Mitchell and Karina Riznova 6-2. Masa Mitic and Diana Starodubtseva dropped their match to Oriana Izarra and Feline Van Eijkelenburg 6-2. Lastly, Kashmira Manohar and Sophia Marchetta took down Lucia Jorrin Fernandez and Meiri Okuwaki 6-2.

In singles, Starodubtseva secured the first win for Hampton against Mitchell, 6-1, 6-2. Kozaki followed with a 4-6, 6-1 6-1 defeat of Van Eijkelenburg as she moves to 4-0 this season. Okuwaki started with a 6-0 first set, but Marchetta rallied back to take the last two sets 6-0, 6-1. Jorrin Fernandez beat Manohar in two sets, 6-4, 6-2. She holds a 3-1 singles record this season. Mitic closed out the day for the Lady Pirates with a win over Broderick.
