ORLANDO, Fla. (March 11, 2024) – The Pirates tennis team fell to Fairleigh Dickinson 4-3 in Monday's morning dual and defeated Warner 5-2 in the evening.
FDU Match
Hampton won three of the singles matches against the Knights, but lost the three doubles matches which led to a 4-3 score.
In doubles,
Aryan Arora and
Donte Armbrister lost to Gryffin Minor and Tyler Crook by a score of 6-3, and
Benjamin Mwanza and
Shine Tokas fell to Arjun Sriram and Andrew Nicolae 6-1. Thomas Linley and Joshua Oboniye were up 5-4 against
Daniel Flynn and
Emiliano Jorquera before the match went unfinished.
Armbrister lost to Sriram 6-4, 6-0 in the first singles match. The Pirates won the next two contests as Flynn came back against Oboniye (1-6, 6-4, 1-0) and Jorquera 6-4 in two sets over Linley. Minor took down Tokas (6-3, 6-1) before Arora tied the point total at three by defeating Mickus 7-5 and 6-2. Mwanza lost the final match against Jorge Alonso-Cortes 6-2, 6-1.

Warner Match
In the evening matchup against the Warner Royals, the Pirates got back in the win column to earn their second win of the season. Hampton won four singles matches and two out of the three doubles contests.
In the first doubles match, Flynn and Jorquera took down Andre Balatzar and Carlos Quinones 6-2 to earn their third win as partners. Tokas and Mwanza fell against Diego Pessoa and Eduardo Morais 6-1. Armbrister and Arora secured the doubles points in a close win over Sam Routzahn and Nikhil Mittal (7-5).
Armbrister beat Balatzar in a three-set thriller, 6-7, 7-6, and 10-8 and Jorquera defeated Morais 7-6, 6-4. Flynn recorded the third win for the Pirates in a three-set match against Quinones 4-6, 7-5, 10-6. Tokas lost in three to Luis Rodrigues 6-1, 4-6, 10-0. Arora swept Routzahn 6-2, 6-3 and Pessoa beat Mwanza 6-1, 6-1.
With these results, Jorquera earned his sixth singles win of the season, Armbrister and Arora their fifth, and Flynn his fourth.
