Lady Pirates Fall Against FDU

ORLANDO, Fla. (March 11, 2024) – The Lady Pirates fell to the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights by a score of 4-3 on Monday afternoon at the Red Bug in Orlando, Fla.

Hampton won three of the singles matches and one out of the three in doubles.

Alena Kubanova and Namie Isago took down Mio Kozaki and Diana Starodubtseva in a close 6-4 match. Masa Mitic and Lucia Jorrin Fenandez dropped their match against Mireia Turro and Valentina Silva by a score of 6-2. Sofia Sokolova and Meiri Okuwaki earned the first Lady Pirates win of the day with a 6-3 defeat of Gauri Bhagia and Anastasia Lim. Sokolova and Okuwaki are now 4-0 as partners this season.

Kozaki won her singles match against Kubanova, 5-7, 7-5, and 10-3. Starodubtseva followed as she notched a win over Lim in two sets, 6-4 and 6-3. Both Kozaki and Starodubtseva earned their fourth singles win of the year. Turro defeated Sokolova in the next match, 6-3, 2-6, and 10-8. Okuwaki was the last Lady Pirate to bring home a win. She took down Isago in two sets that both ended 6-2. This was Okuwaki's fifth single's win. In the last two singles matches, Silva beat Jorrin Fernandez (7-6, 1-6, 10-6) and Mitic lost to Katsiaryna Kostsina 5-7, 6-1, and 10-1.
