Hampton Sailing Return Home for Grant Trophy

HAMPTON, Va. (April 12, 2024) … Hampton University sailing is set to compete in its first home regatta of the season. The Pirates will be hosting the Grant Trophy this weekend at Strawberry Banks with racing beginning on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. This weekend's regatta will be a qualifier for the upcoming conference championship. For teams to qualify for the America Trophy they will need to place sixth or higher at the Grant Trophy.

In the Pirate's most recent race, Coach Ambrosi's team secured their second win of the spring season. Hampton's win at the Ocean County Spring Regatta would be their third of the 2023-24 campaign. After the first day of the competition, HU jumped out to a 19-point advantage. The Pirates continued to have success taking half of the final 10 races.

For fans wanting to attend this weekend's regatta, input the following address into your GPS 30 Strawberry Banks Blvd, Hampton, VA 23663. Parking is available at the end of the road. Strawberry Banks can be accessed from exit 268 off of I-64 from South Mallory Street. Those wishing to attend getting off the eastbound exit will then make a left turn onto Strawberry Banks Boulevard. Once on Strawberry Banks Boulevard attendees will make the first right turn on the road.
