HAMPTON, Va. (April 13, 2024) – The Hampton Lady Pirates took down HBCU Rival North Carolina A&T 6-1 on Saturday afternoon in Hampton, Va.

The Lady Pirates won two doubles matches (one by default) and five singles matches (two by default). The Aggies only traveled with four players.

Meiri Okuwaki and Sofia Sokolova won their doubles match over Hana El Sherif and Nour Gueblaoui by a score of 6-3. They hold the best doubles record on the team and are 11-3.

Diana Starodubtseva beat Tabeth Tadoum 6-3 and 6-1. Sokolova took down El Sherif in two sets, 6-4 and 6-2. Okuwaki was up 3-0 when Gueblaoui retired. Okuwaki is 10-5 in singles play and Starodubtseva and Sokolova are 9-8. Lucia Jorrin Fernandez and Masa Mitic won their doubles and singles matches by default.

The Lady Pirates travel to play at Towson on Monday at 2:00 p.m. and return home on Tuesday for their last regular season match against Norfolk State (10:00 a.m.).
