Sailing Places Eighth at CofC Fall Inter Conference

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Sept. 29, 2024) …Hampton University sailing team placed eighth at the CofC Fall Inter Conference hosted by Charleston. The field consisted of 11 teams. This weekend's regatta was the first time the Pirates sailed in Charleston, S.C. since the 2008-09 season. Hampton was close to finishing in the top five only missing by 14 points.

Hampton's A division only had seven top-ten finishes. Their best finish of the regatta came during the ninth and 11th races. HU placed seventh in both of those races.

The Pirates B division had a strong start to the regatta. Hampton's B team won the first two races of the even. Consistently the group finished in the top-five securing eight top five finishes. Out of the 11 competing teams B units, Hampton placed fifth while only being one point behind Eckerd. The Pirate's worst finish of the regatta came during the eighth race where Hu placed ninth.

Hampton returns to action next week at the Oyster Bowl hosted by Old Dominion. The regatta is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5.
