VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (Feb. 26, 2025) … A second place in the long jump and a pair of fifth place finishes highlighted Hampton men's indoor track and field team after day one of the Coastal Athletic Association Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
The Pirates sit in fourth place with 16 points as Monmouth leads after day one with 53 points. Northeastern is second with 52.5, followed by William & Mary with 24 points.
"We had some good efforts and a few outstanding performances today. We just have way too many injuries but, we will keep fighting," said Hampton Head Coach
Maurice Pierce.
Joseph Ernest took second in the long jump to give the Pirates eight points with a leap of 7.20 meters (23-7.5). He did that on his last jump and set a personal best.
Fanon Miller gave Hampton four points with a toss of 17.21 meters (56-5.75) in the weight throw.
Floyd Tucker also scored four points for Hampton in the pole vault as he finished fifth with a leap of 4.50 meters (14-9).
Qualifying for Thursday's finals are:
- Jaden Clark qualified seventh in the 60 meters in 6.87
- Deondre McInTosh qualified eighth in 60 meters in 6.89
- Justin Anderson qualified third in the 400 meters in 48.02
- Ibrahim Abdalla qualified second in the 800 meters in 1:53.21
- Mohammed Al-YaFee qualified fourth in the 800 meters in 1:52.56
Field events start Thursday at 10:30 a.m. and track events begin at noon.
