GREENVILLE, N.C. (March 30, 2025) … The Hampton University women's tennis team returned to action on Sunday and dropped a 7-0 decision to East Carolina inside the River Birch Tennis Complex.
East Carolina won the doubles point by taking a 6-3 win at No. 2 and a 6-1 win at No. 3.
Serena Bryan and
Diana Starodubtseva trailed 5-4 at the top spot when East Carolina clinched the team point.
In singles, Bryan and
Melis Sakiroglu went into a third-set super tiebreaker in their matches at No. 4 and No. 5 respectively. Bryan fell to Isabella Rivera 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-7), while Sakiroglu dropped a 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-5) match to Joan Madi.
Hampton is back in action on Tuesday at Norfolk State.
