HAMPTON, Va. (April 11, 2025) … Coming on the heels of an impressive performance at the VertKlasse Meeting last weekend at High Point, the Hampton University track and field program will stay in the state this weekend and participate in the James Madison Challenge in Harrisonburg.

A total of 14 schools from around the region will convene in Harrisonburg – VCU, Va. Wesleyan, VMI, George Washington, James Madison, Loyola (Md.), Marshall, Mt. St. Mary's, Navy, Radford, Towson and UMBC join the Pirates at Sentara Park.

In the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Association national rankings, the women's team is ranked ninth in the discus, 17^th in the 100 hurdles, 18^th in the 400 meters and 21^st in the shot put.

The meet will be streamed on ESPN+ starting at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Hampton has several leaders among the CAA individual race leaders:

• Dejah Grant and Kayla Spencer are 1-2 in CAA in the 400
• Grant also 3^rd in CAA in 100 hurdles with Zionn Rice (5^th) and Carmen PenaSoto (8^th) also ranked
• Both men's and women's 4x4 relay teams are currently top-ranked in the CAA
• In the Discus – Damali Williams (1^st), Rochele Solmon (3^rd) and Nya Harmon (4^th)
• In the Shot Put – Rochele Solmon (2^nd), Nya Harmon (7^th), Victoria Caldwell (9^th)
• In the Hammer  – Victoria Caldwell (1^st), Jaida Graham (6^th)

Hampton will run in a pair of meets next weekend at Virginia and Georgia Tech.
