GREENSBORO, N.C. (April 5, 2025) … The Hampton University women's tennis team started a weekend road trip through North Carolina with a 5-2 win on Saturday over North Carolina A&T.

The Pirates took the doubles point with wins at the top two spots. Masa Mitic and Meiri Okuwaki took a 6-2 win at line two over Juana Gomez Weiss and Dorsa Cheraghi, while Serena Bryan and Diana Starodubtseva finished off a 6-3 win over Hana El Sherif and Randy Rakotoarilala at line one. Hampton had a forfeit win at line three as the Aggies only had five healthy players.

In singles, after Melis Sakiroglu won by forfeit at line six, the Aggies took a win at line three to trim the deficit to 2-1.

Hampton won the next three singles points to lock the match up. Okuwaki scored a 6-2, 6-4 win over Gomez Weiss at line two, Starodubtseva won 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 over Rakotoarilala at line one and Bryan took a 6-0, 6-7 (3-7), 6-0 win at line four over Cheraghi.

The Pirates now head to Campbell for a 1 pm Sunday match.
