HAMPTON, Va. (Sept. 5, 2025) … First-year head coach Makalynne Dyer leads the Pirates into their first regatta Saturday, where they will participate in the Riley Cup hosted by Old Dominion. This weekend's regatta will mark the fifth time Hampton has competed at the Riley Cup in the past six seasons. Last year's ninth place finish out of 16 is HU's best finish in the Cup era. 

During the 2024-25 campaign, Hampton won three regattas, while also adding six top-five finishes. The Pirates return four student-athletes from last season with three new additions to the team. Tyler Brown returns the most experience, as he is the lone senior on this year's Regatta.

Dyer competed in the Riley Cup twice while at Old Dominion University.
