HAMPTON, Va. (Jan. 8, 2026) … The Hampton University men's and women's indoor track and field programs return to action this weekend after an extended break to compete in a pair of meets.
A total of 10 athletes were invited to Louisville, Kentucky to participate in the Rod McCravy Memorial Meet hosted by the University of Kentucky on Friday and Saturday . This meet will have Indiana, Kentucky, Louisivlle, Cincinnati, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Purdue and Vanderbilt among others.
Also starting in Virginia Beach at the Sports Center on Friday morning will be the VCU Rams Indoor Invitational as the Pirates will compete with 16 regional teams in the one-day meet.
The Pirates opened their season on December 8 at the Penn Opener where a total of 15 competitors set personal bests and two came out with meet records for Hampton in the lidlifter of the 2025-26 season.
Rolando Simpson set a meet record winning the high jump in his first collegiate meet with a leap of 6-9, while
Joseph Ernest won the triple jump with a meet record 50-5.5.
