HAMPTON, Va. (Feb. 13, 2026) … Towson (14-10, 7-5) scored the game's first eight points and never looked back in a 69-44 victory over Hampton (9-15, 3-9) before 181 fans at the Convocation Center.
Following Towson's quick start in the first 2:08 of the game,
Aisha Dabo snapped the streak with a jumper in the lane to start Hampton's scoring. But the Pirates struggled on offense and shot just 18.8 percent from the field and missed all six three-point attempts to trail 16-9 after the first quarter. Hampton ended the quarter missing 10 of its final 11 shots from the field.
Kayla Lezama had a pair of buckets and
Kiki McElrath was 3-of-3 from the line to headline Hampton's scoring.
The second quarter started much as the first. Towson tallied the first nine points to lead 25-9. The Pirates missed their first seven shots in the second quarter as part of a stretch and 1-of-18 going back to the first quarter. A pair of free throws by McElrath ended the Towson run.
The Tigers led 33-16 at halftime led by Masyn Marchbanks, who had 11 points, and India Johnston, who finished with nine. Hampton was led by McElrath's eight points including six free throws. Hampton shot 2-of-14 (.167) in the second period and were outscored 17-7.
Towson tallied the first six points of the third quarter to lead 39-16 at the 7:54 mark before
Le'Asia Foreman's lay-up with 6:56 to go ended the Tiger run. Lezama, who sat out the first seven minutes of the third quarter, entered the lineup and scored eight points in the quarter's final three minutes to make it 50-30 after three periods.
McElrath started the final quarter off with a driving lay-up and Lezama picked up where she left off. She scored 13 points in the final 13 minutes of the contest.
For the game, McElrath and Lezama each scored 17 points accounting for 34 of Hampton's 44 points. The Pirates shot 23.7 percent from the floor, made one three-pointer while Towson shot at a 40.3 clip and seven treys. The loss was the fourth in a row for the Pirates.
The Pirates will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 20 when Hampton hosts Drexel at the Convocation Center. Tipoff is set for 7 pm. The three-game homestand concludes on Saturday, Feb. 22 against Monmouth.
