HAMPTON, Va. (Mar. 19, 2026) … The Hampton University men's tennis team defeated Virginia Wesleyan University Thursday morning 5-2.
The Pirates earned the first point of the match, earning the doubles point after Benedict Badza and Kohei Konishi won their match 6-2 to break the 1-1 tie. Rafael Padilha and Aryan Arora won their match 6-2 to start the doubles before the Marlins evened the score at the three spot.
In singles Hampton took four of the six spots, winning at one, two, three, and four. Padilha earned a win at one in straight sets 6-3, 6-1, while Konishi (6-2, 6-4), Badza (6-2, 6-3), and Arora (6-3, 6-2) all won in straight sets as well.
Hampton has now won back-to-back matches for the first time in the 2026 campaign.
