GREENSBORO, N.C. (March 27, 2026) … Homestanding N.C. A&T scored three runs in the bottom of the first on two hits and made it stand in a 3-1 win over Hampton to start a three-game series Friday afternoon.
N.C. A&T put up a three-spot in the bottom of the first inning as Shandi Brown walked, stole second and moved to third on a bunt single from Aniya Merritt. She stole second before Brown scored on a dropped third strike. A walk to Jaden James was followed by an RBI single from Ayanna Mears to lead 2-0. A double steal allowed James to push the Aggies up 3-0.
Hampton scored in the top of the third as
Santrea Armstead started with a double to center. Pinch-runner
Priscilla Michel scored on a one-out single from
Riley Bohanon trimming the margin to 3-1.
Leah Maduro was the tough luck loser allowing two hits, three runs and striking out six. Bohanon,
Carmynn Bonner and Armstead had hits on the day for Hampton.
Aaliyah Williams picked up the win for N.C. A&T throwing seven innings, allowing three hits, one run and striking out 10.
Game two of the series will be at 1 pm on Saturday, while game three will also be at 1pm on Sunday.
