RICHMOND, Va. (March 31, 2026) … On the strength of two wins at the East Carolina University Bill Carson Invitational last weekend, Hampton University junior Rochele Solmon was named CAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

A native of Clarendon, Jamaica, Solmon won the discus with a toss of 47.80m (156-10) and the shot put in 14.56m (47-9.25) in the meet. Her toss in the shot put ranks her second in the CAA, while her toss in the discus puts her first in the CAA by 21 inches.

Hampton will send participants to three meets this weekend at the Florida Relays, Texas Relays and Norfolk State Invitational.
