Chris Siegle

Chris Siegle begins his second season at Hampton University, and his first as the wide receivers coach. Despite his relative youth, Siegle brings a wealth of experience, both as a player and a coach.

Siegle was the quarterbacks coach for the Pirates in 2009, guiding signalcallers Herbert Bynes – a 2008 Second Team All-MEAC selection – and Syracuse transfer David Legree. He also assists with recruiting, covering the areas of Jacksonville, Fla., Norfolk, South Hampton Roads and Pennsylvania.

Siegle was an all-state quarterback in fertile western Pennsylvania at Shaler Area High School in Pittsburgh and then went on to play at the University of Cincinnati, where he helped the Bearcats to a berth in the 2000 Motor City Bowl. After two years at Cincinnati, he earned his bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from West Virginia Tech – where he was named Second Team All-Conference.

Siegle also played arena football for two seasons.

After college, Siegle became the offensive coordinator at Milford Academy in New Berlin, N.Y., where he not only helped that program to a two-year record of 17-6, but he also mentored running back Lesean McCoy, who became the 21st overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft by the Philadelphia Eagles, and current University of Miami running back Graig Cooper, who was named the team’s Most Versatile Player in 2008.

Prior to joining the Hampton staff, Siegle was the defensive graduate assistant at Florida International University. While at FIU, Siegle was part of one of the nation’s fastest up-and-coming programs in the country while working with the defensive line.

The son of Don and Marina Siegle, Siegle is married to the former Katie Dugan and the couple resides in Kiln Creek, Va. Siegle is an avid golfer.
