Patrice Beasley

Patrice Beasley is entering her third year as assistant coach of the Hampton University men’s cross country and track & field teams, after spending a year as the team’s volunteer assistant. Beasley performed on the Eastern Michigan track & field team under current Pirates coach Steven Lewis, earning several awards and distinctions in the process.

Before coming to Hampton, Beasley was the assistant girls’ track coach for Romulus (Mich.) High School, her alma mater.

Beasley was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Athlete of the Year as a senior in 2006, capping a collegiate career that saw her earn several All-MAC awards and reach national qualifiers in sprint events. Beasley also earned Outdoor First Team All-MAC honors in 2005.

During her time at Eastern Michigan, Beasley won MAC titles in the 100-meter dash, 200-meter dash, 60-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay and 4x400-meter relay – events that encompassed both indoor and outdoor seasons. Beasley qualified for the NCAA regional meet in the 100-meter dash as a senior, while also reaching the provisional qualifying standard in the indoor 200-meter dash. Over her career, Beasley set personal bests of 7.34 in the 60-meter dash, 11.43 in the 100-meter dash and 23.71 in the 200-meter dash.

She also holds school records in the indoor 4x400-meter relay (3:38.49 – 2005), outdoor 4x100-meter relay (44.99 – 2005) and outdoor 4x200-meter relay (1:33.80 – 2005), along with former teammate and current Pirates assistant coach Lela Nelson.

Beasley earned her bachelor’s degree in public relations, with a minor in coaching, from Eastern Michigan. She mainly deals with Hampton’s sprinters, helping them train and set up workout regimens while also assisting the program’s administrative duties.
