Lisa Jansen

Lisa Jansen is in her first season as an assistant coach with the Hampton University softball program, working under her former collegiate coach Trena Peel. Jansen is responsible for assisting with recruiting, preparing scouting reports and developing the program’s pitching staff.

A December 2010 graduate of Mississippi Valley State University, where she received a B.S. in health, physical education and recreation, Jansen played for a coaching staff that included Peel, who was an assistant coach. She was a First Team All-SWAC selection last season, leading the conference in opposing batting average (.213), strikeouts (144), wins (14) and finished second in the SWAC with a 2.78 ERA.

Jansen was named SWAC Pitcher of the Year and SWAC Newcomer of the Year in 2009, when she was also an All-America candidate. She was also MVSU’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2009 and 2010.

Her collegiate career started at Northeast Mississippi Community College, where she earned her associate’s degree in physical education. She was First Team All-Conference and an All-Region performer both years at NEMCC. She also volunteered at the annual NEMCC softball skills clinic.

Jansen, a native of Dietzenbach, Germany, is also a starter for her country’s national softball team, as well as a member of the Mississippi Professional Educators. On top of softball, she enjoys reading, music and keeping up with her friends.
