Moise Joseph

Former Haiti Olympian Moise Joseph joined the Hampton University coaching staff in September as an assistant coach. 

He came to Hampton after serving as a coach at South Lakes High School.  At South Lakes he coached five New Balance All-Americans, 26 Virginia High School League (VHSL) All-State honorees, 17 VHSL regional champions, five VHSL state champions, three VHSL state runner up team titles and won the 2021 VHSL Boys State Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Joseph has over 10 years of coaching experience with youth, high school, and post-collegiate athletes in various sports. He specializes in sprint, vertical/horizontal field events, combine events, mid-distance and distance events.

A native of Miami, Florida, Joseph attended the University of Florida where he qualified for the NCAA finals in the 800 meters as a sophomore, junior and senior.  His best finish was third as a sophomore in 2002.  He is a two-time Summer Olympics qualifier in the 800 making it in 2004 and 2012 Olympics.

Joseph is a veteran of numerous international events placing second in the 800 at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2010 and again in 2011, along with competing in six World Championships.  Joseph holds the Haitian National Record in the 800 and 1500 meters.

His hobbies include traveling to different countries, visiting beautiful beaches, and running on trails during hot and humid days.  Joseph is a certified World Athletics Level V and USATF Level III Sprint and Hurdles, USATF Level II Jumps, USTFCCCA Combined and Multievent Specialist, along with Strength & Conditioning and Endurance Specialist.
