Raymond Graham

Raymond Graham is entering his second year as assistant coach of the Hampton University women’s track & field program. Graham brings his vast experience in the sport from Jamaica to the Pirate family, where he coaches sprints and relays while also coordinating recruiting efforts.
 
In 2007, Graham was coach at the World Senior Track & Field Championships in Osaka, Japan. He also coached the Senior Championships in 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003.
 
Before coming to Hampton, Graham spent more than a decade coaching in Jamaica. He coached the men’s team at the University of the West Indies in Mona during the 2005-06 season, and before that spent 16 years as the head girl’s track & field coach at St. Jago High School in St. Catherine – where between 1996-99, the team won four consecutive titles. Graham was also the head girl’s coach at Camperdown High School in Kingston from 1985-1992.
 
Graham’s coaching experience goes beyond the scholastic, as he has coached national teams for over 12 years. In addition to coaching the Jamaican World Youth Team, Graham served as assistant for the Jamaican World Championships Team and Jamaican Commonwealth Games Team in 2005-06. He was also an assistant coach on Jamaica’s Olympic Team that traveled to Athens, Greece in 2004, as well as the 2000 squad that competed in Sydney, Australia.
 
Graham assisted the Jamaican World Junior Championship Team twice – in 1996 and 2002 – as well as three World Championship Teams (1997, 1999, 2001). Graham was an assistant coach for the Jamaican Junior Pan-Am Team in 1998, and in 1996 he served on the staffs for the Junior Carifta Games and the CAC Games.
 
Graham was honored by the Jamaican Track & Field Coaches Association in 1998, and in 2004 he was named the Outstanding Coach at the Penn Relays. Graham has a bachelor’s of physical education, which he earned in 2004 from the G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sport in Spanish Town, St. Katherine, Jamaica.
