LADY PIRATES WIN TWO TITLES AT RALEIGH RELAYS

RALEIGH, N.C. –
The Hampton University women's track & field team took home a pair of event titles at the Raleigh Relays over the weekend, held at the Paul Derr Track & Field Stadium on the campus of North Carolina State University.

The Lady Pirates, behind the strength of Francena McCorory (Hampton, Va.), Racquel Vassell (Irvington, N.J.), Petrice Richards (Manchester, Jamaica) and Septima Glenn (Greer, S.C.), took the 4x100-meter relay race in 45.16. That same foursome won the 4x200-meter relay title with a time of 1:35.09.

Jasmin Branch (Hampton, Va.) turned in the best individual performance of the weekend for the Lady Pirates, finishing third in the 5,000-meter run (Section IV) with a time of 18:50.71. Kenya Jones (Chesapeake, Va.) ran a 4:49.84 in the 1,500-meter run (Section II) to come in 10th.

The 4x800-meter relay team, comprised of Jones, Janean Morris (Brooklyn, N.Y.), Jahlisa Smith (Plainfield, N.J.) and Starema Flood (Upper Marlboro, Md.), finished in a tie for 10th after running a 9:16.24.

The Lady Pirates will return to action this weekend, as they travel up I-64 to compete in the Colonial Relays at William & Mary.
